Hi (and a bit of help please):
I hope you all had a great sailing season. I personally want to thank all the competitors that I had a chance to visit with over the last few months—from Charleston to Oshkosh and many venues throughout the Midwest. SL 4 sailed in a lot of different conditions, in all parts of the fleet, and saw a lot of smiling faces, and a few spirited scowls along the way. Super fun, competitive, sometimes light air, and other times windy and super-fast! Some race wins, some heartbreaking wipe outs (we had to cut the rocking Stones spinnaker out of the rigging with a knife to get the boat righted at Oshkosh…sniff..sniff.. :( We did it all and had a great time crossing tacks with many of you along the way! So to the competitors, race committees, and rescue boats - Thank You!
Many of you saw first-hand the new E Class Trailer at the Oshkosh Nationals parked on the south end of the parking lot. The trailer and contents and customized storage areas inside the trailer for the extensive gear collection for running the National Regattas is truly impressive. PRO Bruce Golison provided a detailed list of everything imaginable the class would need to run a World Class Event, in virtually any venue, and in every conceivable racing condition. Bruce procured the majority of the race equipment and had it delivered to Lon Schoor in Madison. Lon got the trailer, purchased miscellaneous items and customized the trailer interior for equipment organization right down to the label maker; Both leveraged their contacts in the Marine industry to invest our class dollars wisely, and then they went shopping with really successful results. But, the job isn’t quite complete, and we need class input to finish this task as this trailer and its contents should serve the class for the next 25-50 years, we need to do some class branding on the outside of the trailer. We want to wrap it with a great unmistakable E-Scow Class design incorporating photos, logos, and images.
WHAT I’M ASKING FROM THE MEMBERSHIP IS THAT ANY OF YOU READING THIS LETTER PLEASE FORWARD YOUR FAVORITE E SCOW ACTION PHOTOGRAPHS FROM ANYWHERE ON THE COURSE THAT YOU MAY HAVE FOR CONSIDERATION OF THE GRAPHIC DESIGNS.
WE NEED A BUNCH OF PHOTOS TO CHOOSE FROM. SEND US YOUR TOP 3 FAVORITES THAT CAN BE RE-CREATED via HI RES DATA AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD FOR A GRAPHIC DESIGNER TO UTILIZE IN CREATION OF WRAP FOR THE TRAILER THAT CAPTURES THE ESSENCE OF E SCOW SAILING FROM A CLASS PERSPECTIVE. INCLUDE ALSO A QUICK OK/PERMISSION TO USE THE PHOTO.
THE INDIVIDUALS THAT SUPPLY THE CHOSEN PHOTOS INCORPORATED INTO THE GRAPHIC DESIGN WILL HAVE YOUR ANNUAL DUES COVERED BY THE NCESA FOR THE NEXT SAILING SEASON.
ALSO, IF WE GET ENOUGH REALLY GREAT PHOTOS WE WILL CREATE A COFFEE TABLE BOOK AND SELL ON THE CLASS WEBSITE—SO, PLEASE, DON’T HOLD BACK! WIPEOUT PHOTOS ALWAYS ENCOURAGED FOR THE COFFEE TABLE BOOK… not for class promo on the trailer graphic…
That is all for now. Our annual board meeting is the first week in November in Chicago. Forward your cheers and jeers to myself or Lon prior to the meeting, or better yet, touch base with your regional representative to make your voice heard at the meeting with thoughts and concerns.
That’s all. Please send us your favorite E scow action photos- but just a few BY DEC 1st. I KNOW the book could be really cool.
Over and out for now,
