NOTICE OF RACE

Eastern Class E Scow Association
2016 Championship Regatta Organizing Authority: Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club

Location and Date:

The 2016 Eastern Class E-Scow Association Championship takes place on Thursday August 4, 2016 through and including Saturday August 6, 2016 at the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club located at 79 North Bertrand Road, Mount Arlington, NJ 07856. www.LHYC.com

Rules:

The regatta is governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and as modified by the National E-Scow Association (NCESA).
seven (7) races scheduled. If 6 races are sailed, each boat’s series score shall be the total of her races scored excluding her worst score. This changes RRS A2.

 

All boats must display an NCESA registration sticker.

 

Required Safety Equipment:

1. Coast Guard Approved Throwable Flotation device
2. Coast Guard Approved Personal Flotation device for each member of the crew. 3. Paddle
4. Main Sail Flotation Panels
5. Whistle

Schedule of Events: Wednesday August 3, 2016

14:00 – 19:00 - Check In, Late Registration and Measurement 16:00 - Practice Race weather permitting.
18:30 - 21:00 – Dinner available from the regular club menu. 18:30 Race Committee Meeting with PRO / Regatta Chairperson. 19:00 Safety Boat Meeting with PRO / Regatta Chairperson.

Thursday August 4, 2016

07:30 – 08:30 - Check In, Late Registration and Measurement. 07:30 - Breakfast
09:00 - Build your own lunch buffet table opens for one hour. 09:30 - Skippers Meeting with Regatta Chair & PRO.

10:00 - Harbor Gun.
10:50 - “Attention Signal”
10:55 – Warning Signal
17:00 - ECESA Annual Meeting (may change based on sailing conditions) 18:00 - Appetizers & Cocktails.
19:00 - Dinner and Dancing

Friday August 5, 2016

07:30 - Continental Breakfast, coffee donuts and bagels. 09:00 - Build your own lunch buffet table opens for one hour. 09:30 - Harbor Gun
10:25 - “Attention Signal”.
18:00 - Appetizers & Cocktails
19:00 - Banquet Dinner and Dancing

Saturday August 6, 2016

07:30 - Continental Breakfast, coffee donuts and bagels.
09:30 - Warning Signal / Harbor Gun.
10:25 - “Attention Signal”.
TBD - Lunch buffet to open as soon as possible after final race. TBD - Awards ceremony as soon as possible after final race.

Number of Races:

Eight (8) races are scheduled. The completion of three (3) races constitutes a Regatta. No more than two races will be sailed back to back. On Saturday August 6, 2016 no races will start after 14:00. If six races are sailed, each boat series score shall be the total of her race excluding her worst. This changes RRS A2.

Scoring: RRS A4 low point system

Awards:

Top 5 Skippers, Top 5 Crews, Top Vintage Boat Skipper, Top Rookie and Top Master. (Master is a skipper whose age is 65 or greater as of August 6, 2016).

Fees:
Entry fee for registrations received on or before June 30, 2016 is $250 for boats whose skipper was born on or before August 6, 1991 or $210 for Skipper born after August 6, 1991. Entry fee must be paid on the Yacht Scoring website prior to June 30, 2016 to receive the standard entry fee rate.
Entry fee for registrations received after June 30, 2016 is $325 for boats whose skipper was born on or before August 6, 1991 or $285 for Skipper born after August 6, 1991.
All skippers must be Regular Members of the NCESA and need to join before the regatta at
www.e-scow.org.

Registration and Procedure:

Online Regatta Registration, Social Packages at http://www.yachtscoring.com. Pre-order Regatta Wear is available online at http://www.coralreefsailing.com. If mail in registration is preferred; payment must be issued to LHYC E-Fleet along with some basic information to Jennifer Flinn, 269 Broadway, Apt. 1F, Dobbs Ferry, NY 10522.

Measurement:
Measurement takes place at the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club from 14:00 – 19:00 on Wednesday August 3, 2016. Boats not having a weight sticker or a lead seal are not eligible to compete and will have to be weighed and weights sealed.

Sailing Instructions:

Sailing Instructions will be available online no later than August 4, 2015 at http://www.yachtscoring.com as well as at the Check In / Late Registration table.

Radio Use:

The RC will communicate with competitors on VHF radio channel 69. Failure to hear a RC transmission shall not constitute grounds for redress. Notification of course changes after the start may be broadcast by the RC in addition to the signals. Please bring a VHF radio.

Lodging/Housing:

The Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club will attempt to locate housing on a first come first service basis but no guarantees are implied. Please direct any and ALL Housing Requests to Donna Norman at Freshstart4@hotmail.com. Hotel reservations can be made at the Holiday Inn – Mount Arlington, 176 Howard Blvd, Mt Arlington, NJ 07856 by calling (973) 770-7880.

Meals:
Wrist Bands will be issued at onsite registration and must be worn at all times to access Continental Breakfast, Lunch Buffets and evening Social Events.
Continental Breakfast: begins at 07:30 at the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club each morning and includes: Coffee, Juice, Bagels, Donuts and Assorted Fruit. The cost of which is included in your social package fee.
Lunches: A “build your own lunch” buffet table will open on Thursday & Friday from 09:00-10:00. Saturday lunch buffet will take place as soon as possible after the final race. The cost is included in your regatta social package fee.
Competitor Social Events:
The Social Events include the Thursday & Friday night banquet dinners along with live entertainment on both nights. Cost is $80.00 person .
Additional tickets for dinners and social events will be available at the club.
