Thirty-Six E Scows in Cold, Stormy Weather
Geneva hosted a Zenda U and their annual Spring E regatta Fri-Sun. With winds from 3-38MPH and wind direction on one day from 45 to 215, it was challenging conditions. But the lucky fleet finally got a steady direction and sailable wind at 3:00 on Saturday afternoon. Three races later, the party began which would extend until trophies. The PRO however gave them another try on Sunday morning but stormy weather had another idea. Peter Strothman ran another perfect event and then won the regatta on a tiebreaker also. His seasoned crew along with T Freytag, Vincent Porter and Eddie Cox showed Geneva knows how to sail those E scows. Matt Schmidt from Pewaukee squeaked into fifth to prevent a Geneva sweep. A Canadian boat has allowed the event to now be the Geneva International Spring E to the delight and laughter of all. Grand Lake Colorado appeared in style. Loads of champions in skipper and crew positions on the water.
