Home2016 NY State Champs

Report by Rick Turner

Just a follow up on the  New York State Championships which was a two weekend event . The first weekend “competition” was at Chautauqua Lake YC , June 11, 12

We had a front move through Friday evening June 10

We woke up to 25 MPH  steady  with gusts to 32   out of the WSW and high waves coming down the length of the lake. No  sailing Saturday.

Sunday was more of the same with winds 26 with gusts to 30 out of the WNW.  So there was no racing.  A few went out briefly on Saturday but the high winds and big waves lead very difficult conditions with several boats swamping due to high seas.

The second week of sailing was July 30, 31 at Keuka YC.

Conditions were very calm with NO wind either day .

There was no racing .

So after four days of “competition”  we were unable to get in a race .

This is the first time this has happened in the 79 years of racing between the clubs.

So as a result,  everyone is still in first place.
